hi, i’m joy

I spent my formative years moving often as a child in a military family. This afforded me the opportunity to experience many places in the United States, especially in the southeast, and shaped me into a person who views home as people versus a physical place. I love getting to know people and hearing their story and have always been a fervent reader. These two passions helped lead to my career in communications.
While I call Topeka, Kansas home today, my family and I enjoy road trips. Whether we’re traveling to visit family or to the next great amusement park, there is always a national park, historic site, or aquarium to stop and explore along the way.
Checklists and checking them off is as much of a hobby as an organizational tool. In that spirit, here are a few quick facts:
- I’m passionate about adoption. From children to fur babies, our family actively adopts and advocates for adoption. There are so many children and animals in our world who need a loving, forever family.
- I love historic sites and museums, exploring in-person something I’ve only previously read about is very exciting.
- I don’t understand cold coffee. It’s never too hot for hot coffee.
- True crime podcasts and documentaries are my jam, the psychology of the “why” did these people do these horrible things must be explored.
- I truly believe effective, good communication can solve most problems.
